Having your baby at home  includes prenatal care, the home birth  and post natal care for mom and baby.  In addition, most hospitals won't allow a water birth.  Water births create optimal relaxation, while avoiding IV pain medications and epidurals that can cause long term back discomforts, or interfere with the newborn while she is learning to nurse.  A water birth  at home  decreases the risks associated with hospital births. These risks include the 35% national cesarean section rate which is major abdominal surgery, the lack of mobility in labor, the drop in BP and consequent fetal distress associated with epidural anesthesia.

"Fathers  and extended family members are very important to you as you give birth.  Every woman's life partner is encouraged to participate as much as they feel comfortable,  including assisting to deliver their own baby with guidance and love from the midwife's skills and knowledge.  Many dads climb right in the tub with their beautiful birthing wife.  Water birth is the perfect medium for a dad to catch his own baby, if he wants to,  as the water cradles  the woman giving birth.  Other fathers support from the sidelines.  Not all father's want to catch their own baby and some prefer to not even watch!  Each father is respected and supported in what he needs during this special life changing event.  Every home birth is different and reflects the woman's inner spirit."


 Sandra has been assisting women to have  water births since 1998. Water is comforting and provides warm counter pressure to the baby's head as he or she is being born.  Water birth works perfectly in rhythm with the body.  It helps to prevent tearing to delicate tissues. The warm water cradles and comforts both mother and baby.  

The  nurse midwife role is to support your vision and share information about healthy  pregnancy and  home birth .   Sharing information with you allows for a truly informed consent.
